Rifle in Hand, How Wild America was Saved was written by Jim Posewitz

Rifle in Hand, How Wild America was Saved was written by Jim Posewitz. Author Posewitz is no stranger to this column where I have reviewed his two previous books, Beyond Fair Chase and Inherit the Hunt. Both of these books, along with this new book, have become favorites of mine.

I am honored and fortunate to know Jim Posewitz as a friend, a protector of America’s right to hunt and the person who is a responsible guardian and spokesman for ethical hunting practices be it with bow or gun. The author, through his years of dedication to hunter education especially with young or new hunters, has taught with example and with his writings, the responsibility for fair chase and the ethics that define hunting as a sport and help make it acceptable to the non-hunting public.

Rifle in Hand is but another great book in this continuing saga of hunting in America by an author who lives the subject he writes about. Like myself, author Posewitz is a student of and an admirer of the greatest hunter/conservationist who ever lived Theodore Roosevelt. You will see this admiration reflected in this book and other books and articles he has written.

This book also details the accomplishments of other great hunter/conservationists from Roosevelt’s era and a little beyond. If you have read Posewitz’s other two books then it is a given you will want to read this new book. It is a soft-covered, easy to read book and it is available from the publisher Riverbend Publishing, PO box 5833, Helena, MT 59604 at a cost of $9.95 plus shipping.
