NHWF conservation volunteer opportunity in Concord

The NH Fish & Game Department in conjunction with the NH Division of Forest and Lands will be hosting a seedling planting on 3 acres in the Russell-Shea State Forest in Concord.

The goal is to plant 1,589 seedlings to enhance habitat for New England cottontail and other shrub land dependant wildlife including woodcock, rufuous sided towhees, and many others.

The plantings consist of silky and red osier dogwood, arrowwood, bayberry, and nannyberry seedlings. They are approximately 12" high and is a fairly simple operation to plant the seedlings with a tree spade.

The dates for the planting will be April 19 & April 26 from 9AM - 3PM.

Directions to the Russell-Shea State Forest:

The site is located off Interstate 89, Exit 2.

·         Take a right off the exit

·         Take your next right onto Iron Works Road immediately after the Park & Ride
